Defining Rooms With Colour Contrasts

Many of us who decorate our homes are aware of what colours work and what don’t. Deep, toned colours for bedrooms and light, spacious colours for kitchen spaces are some popular norms. But there is another element to room colours, and that is to combine them.

Combining colours is a great way to add a splash of vibrancy to traditional design choices. A bedroom painted in deep, earth tones can be shot up with the inclusion of a warm yellow.

This works as the conflicting colour creates a contrast, drawing the eye and highlighting the colour in the space. Doing this is not for the faint of heart though. Using conflicting colours is a difficult thing to judge and may take a few attempts until the colour sits and makes sense.

If done correctly though it can give a striking and unique look to any room in the home.
